7 Myth busters that will turn your world upside down.
Busted. Busted. Busted. Debunking some of the most common misconceptions about fitness and nutrition, WearJukebox is here to turn your world upside down with the actual facts.
1. The more you sweat, the better your workout
“Sweating is your body’s way of cooling itself.” Some people sweat more than others but that does not mean that you haven’t worked out. The temperature and humidity in the air also plays a major role in determining the sweat content. Like, you won’t sweat as much in 250degrees as you would in 40 degree weather. Or, you will always feel you are sweating in a humid environment because sweat does not evaporate.
2. Body fat can be turned into muscles
Well, fat and muscle are two completely different things. You cannot turn one thing into another for muscles are body tissues connecting every joint and fat is spread all over the body. You can reduce the size of your fat cells by exercising regularly and build your muscles through strength training.
3. Monday is the best day to begin
Why do you have to wait till Monday? Why not start right now? We completely agree that Monday feels like a convenient day to start healthy especially after those booze-filled nights and pizza weekends. However, the wait-till Monday mentality will only deter you from your goal.
4. Greater the pain, better the results
The famous saying, “No pain, no Gain” is what most experts believe. However, pain is certainly not an indicator of effectiveness. While you might feel sore after a fitness routine for a day or two, it does not account for a painful journey.
5. You cannot just ‘choose and pick’ fat burning areas
The key is to have a combination of cardio work and strength training in your fitness routine. One cannot deny that Cardio is one of the most important exercises in terms of losing weight. However, only doing aerobic activities such as running, or cycling is not the ideal way to lose fat. This will ensure muscle strength, growth and loss of calories.
6. You can ‘Crunch’ your way to abs
Doing 1000s of crunches will not get you 6abs, that is certain! Just like any other body part, your abdominals also need time to grow. The first step to get bulky abs would be to get your fat percentage down and then engage in heavy movements like deadlifts, squats, etc.

7. You can ‘Crunch’ You should workout every day
In contrary to what most people believe, there is NO compulsion for you to workout all 7 days of the week. When you work out, muscles fibres break so they can be rebuilt stronger. So, to do this the body also needs an adequate amount of time. You can aim for one or two days as active recovery days where you just gently stretch or walk and donít stress your body too much.
Letting go of these misconceptions will ensure a better workout routine. Flex on friends!
